The UK government secured critical raw materials to keep British Steel's Scunthorpe plant operating through the summer. A shipment of 55,000 tons of blast furnace coke from Australia arrived at the port of Immingham and will be transported by rail to the site.

Additional deliveries from Sweden, including over 66,000 tons of iron ore pellets and 27,000 tons of iron ore fines, are expected next week. Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds said the supplies, funded through the Department for Business and Trade, will help safeguard thousands of jobs. The move followed the government's emergency takeover of the company from Chinese owner Jingye.
