China’s iron ore imports drop in Mar, future trend to be affected by tariff issue

15 Apr 2025 15:50 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC), China imported approximately 94 million tons of iron ore in March, a slight 0.3% decline compared to February and a sharper 7% drop year-on-year.

For the first quarter of the year, China's total iron ore imports reached about 285.3 million tons, representing a 7.8% decrease compared to the same period last year.

The ongoing tariff tensions between the US and China have had a noticeable impact on global markets and are expected to influence China’s iron ore import trends moving forward.
