Fagersta Stainless, a stainless wire rod and wire producer in Sweden, has selected Danieli technologies for product expansion at its Fagersta, Sweden, facility.

A new bar-in-coil line will be installed to produce rounds, squares, and hexagons with a diameter from 8.5 to 8.8 mm in 1-ton coils at 35 tons per hour. Built on a plancher, the new line will receive hot-rolled bars from the existing rolling mill and use the wirerod mill’s finishing services.

Two new Morgardshammar housingless stands, identical to those in the rolling mill, will finish the whole stock with existing equipment. A fast-transfer system will move hot coils from Garrett coilers into a water tank for solubilization, ensuring uniform microstructure.

This energy-efficient process will lower energy consumption and carbon emissions. The layout of the line allows future expansion to 50 tons per hour and double coil weight.

The investment boosts Fagersta’s product quality, production flexibility, and cost efficiency. Hot startup is set for the first quarter of 2026.
