Taiwan’s Chung Hung raises both import & export prices

20 Mar 2025 16:24 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
Chung Hung Steel Corporation (CHSC), a Taiwan-based carbon steel producer under China Steel Corporation (CSC), raised the domestic price of hot-rolled steel by NT$500/ton (a hike of NT$600/ton for rolling materials), cold-rolled steel up by NT$500/ton, and galvanized steel up by NT$600/ton for April. The export price for May was increased by US$10-20/ton depending on product and region, with actual prices subject to local market conditions.

Chung Hung reported a rebound in manufacturing PMI in Europe and the US, while China continued pro-growth policies, leaving room for rate cuts. China’s controlled crude steel production, Germany's infrastructure expansion, and Russia-Ukraine ceasefire talks may boost steel demand.

Tariffs and trade protectionism have driven up steel prices in the West, while Asia remains stable. With construction season approaching, downstream demand will rise. Chung Hung has moderately adjusted its prices to reflect market trends and support customers’ sales.
