Taiwan’s steel pipe makers hope CSC to consider more on API pipe price adjustment

13 Mar 2025 15:28 reported by Joy Liu

China Steel Corporation (CSC), the largest carbon steel manufacturer in Taiwan, will announce its prices for April next week, and market participants expect that the prices of API steel pipes may rise sharply.

Due to the indirect impact of US’ tariff policy, Taiwan's API steel pipe sales to the US have increased, but steel pipe manufacturers pointed out that the US customers' acceptance of price increases is limited. Although sales in the US are good, steel pipe manufacturers hope that CSC can consider that the recent transaction was more at old prices, moderately slow down the price increase, and avoid raising prices too quickly to pressure more on costs.

CSC's API pipes and coated steel are currently the most popular products to the US, and the price increase in April is expected to be larger than that in March.
