Ukrainian Railways reported a 4.1% decline in iron ore exports for the first two months of 2025, totaling 6.06 million tons, with reduced shipments to both ports and land border crossings. In contrast, ferrous metals exports grew by 3.3%, driven by a 25.3% increase in port shipments despite a drop in land border exports. The Greater Odesa ports remain crucial for Ukraine's metallurgical and agricultural exports amid ongoing challenges.

Overall, Ukrainian Railways saw an 8.4% drop in cargo transportation in early 2025, with export and import traffic declining by 9.1% and 15.2%, respectively. This contrasts with 2024 data, which showed a 17.9% annual increase in cargo transportation, fueled by a 51.2% surge in export volumes.
