From April 1, the European Commission (EC) will implement the latest steel safeguard measure, which includes import restrictions on hot-dip galvanized (HDG) and cold-rolled coil (CRC) products. These restrictions are expected to have a significant impact.

The CRC quota limit of 13% primarily affects suppliers from Vietnam, Taiwan, Japan, and Turkey. The total quota for CRC in other countries is 334,369 tons from April to June, with each supplier permitted to import a maximum of 43,467 tons.

The quota limit for Class 4B automotive-grade hot-dip galvanized products is 20%, with Turkey, Vietnam, and Japan identified as the primary suppliers. In contrast, the quota limit for Class 4A hot-dip galvanized products is 25%, with Turkey, Vietnam, and Taiwan being the affected countries.

This would allow other countries to supply 118,012 tons per quarter of 4A HDG, with the total volume for the quota at 472,049 tons for the coming quarter. For 4B HDG, the quota allocated to other countries will be 104,770 tons, which translates to 20,955 tons per country.
