Pacific Steel Group held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new steel plant in California, US on March 5. The new steel plant covers an area of 500,000 square feet and has exclusive renewable energy facilities in the plant, producing steel in a zero-carbon emission manner. 

This is the first newly built steel plant in California in the past 50 years. It not only symbolizes an important step for the local manufacturing industry to move towards zero carbon emissions but also sets an example for the green transformation of the US manufacturing industry.

The California government has provided the project with up to US$30 million in California Business and Economic Development tax credits to help the factory hire employees and purchase equipment.

The factory is expected to start production in 2025 and is expected to provide approximately 700 jobs. Its annual output is expected to meet local market demand.
