Stainless steel cold-rolled coil price to be boosted by growing manufacturing demand

3 Jan 2025 16:15 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
As of the week ending December 27, 2024, stainless steel cold-rolled coil prices fell by 0.8% in Germany and by 1% in China due to weak demand and oversupply, while the US market stayed stable with steady production and demand, with balanced market pricing.

Germany faces energy cost challenges despite support for its steel sector. Demand for stainless steel cold-rolled coil remained weak in the European market.

In China, declining construction activity pressured prices. Steel demand fell slightly by 1.5% compared with the same period last year, according to statistics from the China Metallurgical Industry Planning and Research Institute. Such data indicated a slower decrease in the future.

It was expected that manufacturing demand growth will boost stainless steel cold-rolled coil prices in Germany, the US, and China, especially the increase in industrial activities with New Year sales, with higher market prices.
