Swedish vehicle manufacturer Volvo Cars aims to reduce CO2 emissions per vehicle by 75% by 2030 from the 2018 level, with plans to use near-zero emission aluminum and steel. Besides, the company also planned to realize climate-neutral by 2040 and to cut CO2 emissions per car by 40% during the period from 2018 to 2025.

To reach this goal, Volvo Cars set up a partnership with Swedish steel producer SSAB for the supply of near-zero emission steel. SSAB supplied near-zero-emission virgin and recycled steel plates to the car company, which will be applied to one of its automotive programs by 2026.

Volvo Cars was the first automobile manufacturer to have collaboration with SSAB to source near-zero emission, high-quality steel for the car industry.
