The Brazilian steelmaker CSN expected that steel demand and prices in the domestic market should be stable in the last quarter of this year, compared to the third quarter, amid an environment still marked by strong steel imports.

CSN announced recently a 62% drop in its profit for the third quarter, with an operating result slightly higher than expected by the market.

Benjamin Steinbruch, the executive president of CSN, stated that the company's expectation was to improve production volume, with a reduction in costs, in the current quarter. He added that the margin will be very positive in the fourth quarter and looking for double digits in the coming quarters.
