According to statistics from the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global crude steel production totaled 150 million tons in October this year, keeping basically stable, with a slight month-on-month decrease of 0.3% and a year-on-year growth of 0.6%.

Among them, the output from China, the largest producer in the world, accounted for 79.1 million tons, a month-on-month decrease of 3.6%. India, the world’s second-largest producer, contributed 12.1 million tons, up by 3.2% month on month and by 15.1% year on year. The third-largest steelmaker Japan’s crude steel output was 7.5 million tons, rising by 7.5% month on month and by 2.6% year on year.

In terms of production in Europe, Germany, the biggest producer in the region, was recorded with output of 2.8 million tons, a month-on-month drop of 0.9% and a year-on-year decrease of 9%.

There were some production cuts in Europe due to the sluggish demand in the second half of this year, but some steel mills planned to raise their production for replenishment in early January next year.
