According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey’s stainless flat steel imports amounted to 454,000 tons in the first eight months of this year, dropping by 28% compared to the same period a year ago. The main reasons for the dropped imports were severe exchange rate fluctuations and high inflation rates, which caused weak demand.

During the period, China was the largest source, with approximately 214,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 27%. Indonesia ranked second with roughly 97,000 tons, down by 36% year on year. South Korea followed with 42,000 tons, a year-on-year decline of 35%.
