According to the Brazilian Aluminum Association (ABAL), Brazil’s aluminum consumption improved in the first half of 2023, driven by the demand from various major industrial fields.

During the period, Brazil’s aluminum consumption in the power industry increased by 11.5%, mainly due to the continuous increase in the country’s wind and solar energy capacity, boosting the demand for aluminum cables and transmission lines.

On account of the recovery of the real estate market, aluminum consumption in the civil construction industry increased by 7%. The transportation industry also drove Brazil's aluminum consumption to grow by 2.9%.

However, in the first half of the year, the packaging sector had a poor performance. In particular, the production of aluminum cans for beverages and goods fell by 4.8%, resulting in a decline of 13.8% in the overall aluminum consumption in the packaging industry.
