Due to the growing domestic demand for stainless steel, Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys Limited is expanding its ore mining capacity to meet domestic demand.

Previously, 40-50% of the chrome, which was produced in India, had been exported, with little domestic demand. However, India's stainless steel production has now reached 3 million tons per annum and is likely to continue to grow.

India's largest producer of ferrochromium, which focuses on strengthening stainless steel, exports at least 95% of its goods from two production units in Odisha. The company is expected to meet at least 35% to 40% of domestic demand within three to five years.
