Ural Steel, one of Russia's largest steel production plants, is implementing a series of innovative plans to improve operational efficiency.

First, the plant reduced the consumption of expensive coke and increased the supply of natural gas. Second, the factory began using their own clay rather than imported clay. Third, they increased the production of granulated slag and transported it to third-party consumers. This by-product of iron production is a raw material for cement plants, mining, and other industries.

In the seven months since the implementation of the innovation, the economic effect amounted to 210 million rubles.
