Walsin Lihwa hopes 60% of suppliers can complete Scope 1 and 2 carbon emission disclosure

23 Sep 2023 17:13 reported by Joy Liu

Walsin Lihwa, a stainless steel wire rod and cable manufacturer in Taiwan, expressed its anticipation to cooperate with suppliers to form a carbon reduction alliance and develop towards ESG (environmental, social, and governance) sustainability, hoping that 60% of suppliers can achieve the goals of Scope 1 and 2 carbon emission disclosure by 2025, and 40% of them can pass verification, moving towards a net-zero future.

The carbon inventory divides greenhouse gases (GHG) into multiple categories. Among them, Scope 1 emissions are direct GHG emissions, such as emissions related to fuel combustion in boilers, furnaces, and vehicles. Scope 2 emissions are indirect GHG emissions from the use of purchased electricity, steam, heat, or cooling for the company’s own use.
