Pakistan’s scrap & steel imports increase in Aug m-o-m

According to data from the Pakistan Federal Bureau of Statistics (PFBS), in August, Pakistan’s scrap imports amounted to about 211,000 tons, increasing by 16.2% month on month but falling by 22.4% year on year. The import value totaled US$97.4 million, a month-on-month increase of 10.8% but a year-on-year decrease of 37.4%.

Meanwhile, the steel imports were about 232,000 tons, hiking by 44.9% year on year and growing by 44.6% month on month. The steel import value was about US$161.6 million, rising by 9.6% compared to the same month last year and increasing by 9.2% from the previous month.
