Borçelik, a leading galvanized flat steel producer in Turkey, announced that its Gemlik plant has obtained the certification of ResponsibleSteel International Standard, becoming the first plant to receive this certificate in Turkey.

Borçelik is a joint venture of Borusan Holding and ArcelorMittal. It became a member of ResponsibleSteel in 2020.

The Gemlik plant has an annual production capacity of 1.5 million tons. It is committed to implementing the strictest sustainability standards, with an aim of achieving net zero by 2050. To realize this goal, Borçelik is constructing several energy efficiency projects and wind and solar power plants.
