According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey’s seamless steel pipe imports totaled around 108,000 tons in the first quarter of this year, falling by 7% compared to the year-ago level due to a decrease in market demand.

Among them, the imports from China surged by more than doubled to 68,600 tons due to offers being more competitive than other countries.

Meanwhile, the imports from Russia plunged by 70% to 6,100 tons, and sources from Ukraine dropped by 48% to 3,200 tons, both compared to the first quarter of last year.

During the period, the value generated by these seamless steel pipe imports amounted to US$191 million, a year-on-year decrease of 1%.
