China Steel Corporation (CSC), the largest carbon steel manufacturer in Taiwan, reported that the company’s revenue was NT$32.38 billion in April, decreasing by 4.34% compared to the previous month and by 28.7% from the year-ago level. The total revenue in the first four months of the year was NT$123.73 billion, a year-on-year drop of 22.97%.

At the same time, CSC’s pre-tax net profit was NT$942.55 million, a month-on-month decrease of 0.6%. The company has got profits for three consecutive months. The pre-tax net profit for the first four months amounted to NT$867.57 million.

CSC said the international steel prices are decreasing, but the company's raw materials costs are dropping as well. Under support from economic stimulus policies introduced by several countries and the promotion of large infrastructure, the second-half steel market was expected to recover to a level better than the first half.
