According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, in February, the US steel imports amounted to about 2.05 million tons, a month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 13.5% and 4.1%, respectively. Meanwhile, the import value amounted to US$2.79 billion, dropping by 15.2% from the previous month and falling by 10% year on year.

Among them, Canada (about 488,000 tons), Mexico (about 347,000 tons), Brazil (about 320,000 tons), South Korea (about 204,000 tons), and Germany (about 72,000 tons) were the main import sources.

Regarding products, in February, the US’ flat product and long products imports were about 656,000 tons and around 374,000 tons, respectively.
