According to the statement from the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization of Turkey, Turkish steelmaker Kaptan Demir Celik's solar power plant project has been approved and will be put into operation within four months after photovoltaic panel installation commences.

Kaptan Demir Celik's existing rolling mill has a steel production capacity of 1.14 million tons per year and a rebar production capacity of 900,000 tons per year.

The company's new 2 million tons/year electric arc furnace and 2 million tons/year flat rolling mill projects were approved in August 2022, and the new production facility will be built in Marmaraereglisi and was scheduled to start production by the end of 2024.
