Taiwan’s heavy melting scrap imports rise in Dec m-o-m

According to statistics from Taiwan Customs, Taiwan’s heavy melting scrap imports totaled around 239,000 tons in December last year, increasing by 17% compared to the previous month.

Among them, the imports were mainly from the US and Japan, totaling roughly 101,100 tons and 55,100 tons, respectively. The Dominican Republic exported 18,700 tons of scrap to Taiwan during the period, followed by Australia’s 15,200 tons.

In 2022, Taiwan’s heavy melting scrap imports amounted to approximately 2.77 million tons.
