China’s stainless steel prices & demand in deadlock, while overall market remains optimistic

28 Mar 2022 16:18 reported by Joy Liu

China’s stainless steel futures prices fluctuated greatly last week due to nickel prices changes. Amid the recent tight ferronickel supply and firm quotations of ferronickel, high prices and the epidemic fears have curbed downstream buyers’ consumption and acceptance.

The current stainless steel cost is high, but consumption is weak, so supply and demand are pulling each other.

The supply of ferronickel is tight in March and April, but the stainless steel production capacity is expanding. The future stainless steel consumption will be boosted by China’s stable growth in markets, so the overall supply and demand of stainless steel is still optimistic.
