US’ aluminum scrap imports down in Sep m-o-m, Canada has largest share

According to statistics from the US Geological Survey, the US imported around 58,400 tons of aluminum scrap in September, sliding by 1.91% compared to the previous month while increasing by 11.5% from the same month a year ago.

Among them, the imports from Canada accounted for the largest proportion, with a share of 61.3% of total imports, reaching 35,800 tons.

In the first nine months of this year, the US’ aluminum scrap imports amounted to 526,000 tons, up by 34.9% year on year. Among them, 309,000 tons were from Canada, a year-on-year decrease of 23.6%.
