According to statistics, the US’ stainless steel imports from China totaled nearly 17,000 tons this October, soaring by 102.07% compared to the previous month and also surging by 468.55% from the same month a year ago. In the first ten months of this year, the US’ stainless steel imports from China amounted to around 73,400 tons, a year-on-year increase of 142.49%.

The previous proportion of China's stainless steel exports to the US accounted for about 2% of the total, but the figure has increased to 5.3% in October this year.

After Allegheny Technologies Incorporated (ATI) exited the standard stainless sheet product market, there are only two stainless steel sheet producers in the US left currently, which highlighted the shortage of stainless steel materials in the US. It was expected that the US will be facing a short supply of stainless steel for a long time in the future.
