China’s crude stainless steel output rises in Jan-Sep y-o-y

According to statistics from the Stainless Steel Branch of China Special Steel Enterprises Association, China’s crude stainless steel production totaled around 23.83 million tons in the first nine months of this year, rising by 8.64% compared to the same period a year ago.

During the period, China’s stainless steel imports amounted to roughly 2.16 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 89.5%. The exports of stainless steel had a year-on-year hike of 37.5% to roughly 3.3 million tons.

Meanwhile, China’s apparent consumption of stainless steel was approximately 20.35 million tons, 10.01% higher than the figure in the same period in 2020.
