Taiwan's stainless steel inquiries increase due to high nickel price

18 Aug 2021 16:50 reported by Isora

Since the LME nickel price came back to the US$19,500/ton level and remained stable in the past week, Taiwan's traders in the market confirmed that inquiries from foreign customers have come back to the local market.

However, as the steel price has already gone up, buyers from other countries apparently showed their consideration in controlling purchase cost in those inquiries. Meanwhile, there were also rumors in the market guessing if China will start collecting stainless steel export tariffs from the first day of September.

According to traders, buyers from the US, Japan, and Australia showed more acceptance of quotations currently.
