Crude steel production in Italy falls in Oct
26 Nov 2020 14:51 reported by Sharon Hung
According to the data from the Italian steelmakers' association Federacciai, Italy’s crude steel production in October was around 2.1 million tons, decreasing by 4.64% compared with the same period last year.
The main reason for the overall decline in output was a sharp drop in sheet output by more than 10%. According to the data, the monthly output of sheets was only 882,000 tons, 11.98% lower than the same period last year.
Part of the reason for the decrease in output was that the sheet factory Arvedi has not fully resumed normal production after the suspension of work due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Another factory was affected by the strike and kept operating at a low speed. The current capacity of the sheet is only equivalent to 2 million tons per year.
