Last week the European Union (EU) announced that from the next April 12th of 2020, it would apply anti-dumping (AD) duties on Chinese, Indonesian and Taiwanese hot-rolled stainless steel products.

Facing this issue, many people have been thinking that it will another impact on the Taiwanese stainless steel industry under the circumstance of COVID-19. However, from another point of view, it could affirm that this would be an opportunity for Taiwan because there were differences in the AD duties rate between China (14.5%-18.9%), Indonesia (17%) and Taiwan (6.2%-7.5%).

As per this latest statement, the stainless steel products, which were going to be charged the AD duties, were under HS codes 7219 11, 7219 12, 7219 13, 7219 14, 7219 22, 7219 23, 7219 24, 7220 11 and 7220 12.
