US & Canadian rig number both increase w-o-w

According to the report from Baker Hughes, as of the week ended January 17th, the number of US’ drilling rigs totaled 796 units, increasing by 15 units compared to a week ago. Among them, the number of drilling rig for natural gas was up by 1 unit to 120 units; that for oil hiked by 14 units week on week to 673 units. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 254 units.

During the same period, the number of Canadian drilling rigs was up by 41 units to 244 units compared to the previous week, increasing by 35 units from the same period a year ago.
