In order to be closer to the nickel mine and improve the mastery of raw materials, Yieh United Steel Corp. (Yusco), the largest integrated stainless steel mill in Taiwan, would speed up the construction of its new mill in Indonesia.

If the stainless steel mill has sufficient nickel raw materials, its competitiveness would be greatly improved. At present, Yusco has obtained Indonesian nickel mines, and four sets of thermal furnaces in its subsidiary, Fujian Lian De Enterprise Co., Ltd., were all put into production. The annual sales volume this year of the company was estimated to be increased by 26% compared to last year.

Yusco planned to invest NT$10 billion in Indonesia to establish a nickel-iron and stainless steel electric furnace in its new mill in Indonesia. Yusco was expected to sign a memorandum of understanding for this investment with Indonesian government after the election to acquire the land for new mill construction. The new mill was expected to be completed within two years after the start of construction.
