According to a report released by the World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS), the global stainless steel slab production reached 52.4 million tons in 2019, hitting a record high, up by 2.7% compared to 2019.

Among them, the production from Asia accounted for 80% of the total, of which China occupied 70%, India was 10%, and the remainder was mainly from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Indonesia.

In terms of Europe, the production from Belgium, Italy, Finland, Spain, and Sweden accounted for most of the European production.

The US was the only producer in North America, with an output of 2.6 million tons, accounting for 5%, dropping by 8% year on year.

The production in South America kept flat basically compared to 2018, accounting for 1%, and the production in other regions in the world fell by 17% year on year to 500,000 tons, occupying the remaining 1%.
