Vale has reopened the iron ore pellet plant at Sao Luis. It was understood that Vale claimed that the company’s resumption of the factory's belt conveyor and press system was the foundation for the reoperation on May 4th.

Vale invested approximately US$104.5 million to renovate the plant which has a capacity of approximately 7 million tons of iron ore pellet a year. Vale also resumed the Tubarao II iron ore pellet plant by next January and expected to reopen Tubarao I in the third quarter of this year.

The Tubarao plant has an annual production capacity of about 8 million tons.
