US & Vietnam reach tariff agreement, benefiting Taiwanese factories in Vietnam

8 Jul 2025 16:38 reported by Ana Lee

A A A
The US and Vietnam have reached an agreement on reciprocal tariffs, with the US tariff rate on Vietnam being 20%. Many Taiwanese screw and wire rod manufacturers have set up factories in Vietnam, and most of them believe that this low tariff rate is lower than their expectations compared with the original tariff rate of 46%.

Thread Industrial Co., Ltd. Chairman believes that this has positive effects, and the Vietnamese dong has depreciated against the US dollar recently.

QST International Corp. spokesman said that they still had to focus on their own competitiveness issues. Global trade liberalization has been broken, and international layout is the inevitable way to go, rather than heavy bets on a single market.
