According to the report, the US exempted tariffs for the first time from South Korean steel products since imposed tariffs this May.

In August, Donald Trump said the quota from South Korea, Argentina and Brazil could be relieved. It was the demand accepted on Monday which was from American medical equipment maker Micro Stamping to exclude stainless steel tubes produced by South Korean SL Tech, a manufacturer of superfine steel pipes such as injection needles.

Since May, the US has levied a quota for South Korean steel about 63 million tons, over 70% of annual average shipments in the past three years.

The US domestic supply was not able to meet the need accordingly, so it pushed government to exempt imports from tariffs.
