According to the data from US Census Bureau, the total imports of steel and metal from China were 52,590 tons in October, which was closed to the lowest level since February 2011. The volume of combined steel in Obama’s administration last full year in 2016 and Trump’s first year in 2017 turned to the lowest in these two years since 2002~2003.

The drop started from the Obama administration as a few of import tariffs unto China’s steel imports. The country claimed China on dumping the steel and metal to the US from the overcapacity. Trump requested to investigate if the steel imports affected the national security.

In addition to China’s recent policy to remove dirty capacity and reduce the pollution, the overall imports dropped to the current level.
