US probes China’s aluminum containers circumvention via Thailand, Vietnam

On July 11, 2025, the US Department of Commerce (USDOC) initiated an anti-circumvention investigation on disposable aluminum containers, pans, trays, and lids (aluminum containers) from China.

This probe, launched at a request from the Aluminum Foil Containers Manufacturers Association (AFCMA) and its members, aims to determine if the subject goods made in Thailand and Vietnam using Chinese-origin aluminum foil is circumventing existing US anti-dumping (AD) duty and countervailing duty (CVD) orders on China’s aluminum containers.

The products involved are disposable aluminum containers, pans, trays, and lids, regardless of their shape, size, or surface texture, all primarily made from flat-rolled aluminum. They are under 7615.10.7125 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States.
