According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey imported a total of around 18.83 million tons of scrap in 2023, falling by 10% compared to the previous year.

Among them, imports from the US accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 4.5 million tons.

In December last year, Turkey's scrap imports totaled roughly 1.66 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 31%. The US was the major source with a supply of 403,000 tons, followed by the Netherlands' 236,000 tons and Denmark's 124,000 tons.
