Turkey’s largest section steel and angle steel producer Mescier Demir Çelik decided to build a solar power plant in Erzurum, the east of Turkey. The total annual output of the company’s two plants is about 800,000 tons.

In recent years, Turkey's steel plants have increased their investment in recycled energy to comply the European Green Deal and to reduce energy costs.

According to the project profile, the installed capacity of this new solar power plant is 3.6 Mwe and it generates power through 8,138 pieces of solar panels.

The Ministry of Environment said the approval process for this project will start from November 3 and the plant construction will start after that. It is planned to come into operation in the second half year of 2024.

Turkey announced a 20% increase in natural gas and electricity at the beginning of October, which made the energy cost higher.
