The US President Donald Trump announced that the US had reached a trade agreement with Indonesia following talks with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. Trump stated the deal includes a commitment from Indonesia to impose no tariffs on US exports, while the US will levy a 19% tariff on Indonesian exports.

Trump said Indonesia agreed to purchase US$15 billion in US energy, US$4.5 billion in agricultural products, and 50 Boeing jets. He also noted Indonesia’s copper may benefit under the deal, as the US considers a 50% tariff on global copper imports starting August 1. Indonesia exported US$20 million in copper to the US last year, far less than Chile and Canada.
