Tesla Motors, the largest automobile manufacturer of lithium-ion battery in the world, expressed that they decided to eliminate the cobalt usage from 3% to 0% because the only battery supplier of Tesla claimed that they have invented the cobalt-free batteries for electric vehicles successfully.

There were few arguments with using cobalt on the electric vehicles although it was the indispensable raw material for the new energy electric vehicles. One of the most noticeable reason was that many automobile manufacturers suffered from the cost due to the thrived electric vehicle market and increased cobalt price. Moreover, many child labors were hired in the main place of production of cobalt, Congo, and it restricted the production of electric automobiles.
