German steelmaker SMS group has announced that it will supply Spain's Megasider Zaragoza with a merchant bar mill with environmentally friendly heating technology to replace the existing rolling mill delivered in 2005.

SMS group's scope of supply includes a walking beam furnace equipped with the latest environmentally friendly reheating technology with a capacity of 120 tons per hour, enabling Megasider Zaragoza to move towards natural gas-free production.

The mill will produce a variety of merchant bar products to assist Megasider Zaragoza in expanding its existing product portfolio.
