Assmang Proprietary Limited indicated that its manganese alloy production plant in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa had been affected by force majeure.

Due to the civil unrest in South Africa and the closure of Durban and Richards Bay ports, Assmang announced force majeure to customers last week. As of last Sunday (18th), force majeure still existed.

The unrest in South Africa affected the supply of manganese alloys exported to China. Durban's port and terminal operations were slowly beginning to normalize. However, the port disruption might take two weeks to ease, therefore affecting manganese exports to China.
