On September 17, 2021, the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC), on behalf of the Southern African Customs Union (SACU), announced its final ruling of the investigation of safeguard measures on U, I, H, L, and T sections of iron or non-alloy steel, classified under tariff subheadings 7216.31, 7216.32, 7216.33, 7216.40, 7216.50, and 7228.70.

According to the ruling, although the domestic section steel industry was severely injured, there was no cause-effect relationship between the injury and imports. Therefore, the investigation will be terminated.
