According to report that South Africa’s Trade and Industry Minister has announced 10% duty on certain imported steel products, including zinc-coated-galvanized steel, aluminum-zinc coated steel and color-coated steel which currently free of duty.

Meanwhile, South Africa will focus on the large cheap steel imports, especially from China. This has put pressure on local steelmakers including ArcelorMittal and Evraz. The country’s Trade Administration Commission has already started the investigation into the steel industry after the application from the South African Coil Coaters Association on behalf of ArcelorMittal and Safal Steel. The implementation will last for three years.
