Steelaris Pte Ltd., a steel trading company and project management provider in Singapore, has signed a purchasing agreement with German steel manufacturer Salzgitter.

Under the agreement, Salzgitter will provide Steelaris with CO2-reduced SALCOS®-steel. The steel could make Steelaris counteract the EU's carbon tax and contribute to Singapore's carbon neutrality by 2050.

Salzgitter Mannesmann International GmbH will complete the first batch of 380 tons of hot-rolled sheets delivery to Steelaris in April. Steelaris said that the CO2-reduced steel was expected to be offered to its customers in the offshore, energy, construction, and shipyard industries.
