US President Trump and Senator Dave McCormick are set to announce US$70 billion in new investments in artificial intelligence (AI) and energy for Pennsylvania. The announcement was made at the inaugural Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit in Pittsburgh.

One project targets Aliquippa, a former steelmaking hub of the Ohio Valley, for transformation into a massive, multi-billion-dollar data processing center. This project was expected to transform the 89-acre old mill site to power the AI economy, creating thousands of construction jobs, hundreds of permanent positions, and substantial tax revenue.

The summit displayed Pittsburgh's technological innovations and extensive energy resources vital for AI. It was believed the region's natural gas, nuclear energy, available industrial sites, and innovative culture would position it as a global AI leader, potentially revitalizing Aliquippa.
