Japan's fifth-biggest steel maker, Nisshin Steel is planning to add an extra surcharge to its zinc products to cover high zinc costs.

A spokesman of Nisshin said, "It's true that we are planning to introduce ah alloy line but we don't have a definite time table."

Nisshin Steel will mainly target all its zinc coated product, like HDG, EG, aluminized and PPGI. At the same time, JFE also announced that it would add a surcharge to its HDG from Jan, 2007.

The company is considering to build a stainless steel plant in India.
